Designer Profiles
Jean
She has a wealth of experience gained while studying at George Brown College and overseas
as well as working in the fashion industry for over 10 years prior to starting her business
including Simpson's “The Room”. After working in the garment industry for several years she
began her own part-time home base business, which focused on dressmaking and alterations.
As the business grew into a full-time operation Jean recognized the void in the market place for
a professional storefront Location. She opened a modest boutique in Mississauga in 1980 and
began to focus on couture and custom-made garments.
Through her experience as a dressmaker she was able to find a niche in the market for custom-
made garments. Many of Jean’s clients came to her to design a unique gown or garment for a
party or special occasion as they were often unable to find a suitable garment in the stores.
Her business grew while creating dresses and evening gowns for friends and clients.
The concept of Jean’s Fashions grew because of Jean’s insightfulness in creating gowns, which
are exquisite, flawless and perfectly fitted. When a client purchases a garment with a LJ Custom
Bridals label in it, that the client should feel confident and comfortable when wearing her gown
and about her purchase.
Jean takes the time to consult with each client ordering a couture gown to ensure that she is
100% confident and happy in her purchase. Insight, creativity, and her meticulous attention to
detail are the overriding principals that Jean Heron combines when approaching her design.
Jean is the founder, and President of Jean’s Fashions.
Loraine
Loraine began designing clothes at the age of 7 for her dolls. At age 11 she created her first
outfit for herself. Loraine’s sewing skills coupled with her artistic talent proved that she was
destined to become a fashion designer.
Loraine studied fashion design at Sheridan College and while there she was the recipient of
two design awards including an Award of Excellence for her leather garment design and a
Susan Shoes award for her knit wear design. Upon graduating she began working with her
Mother at Jean’s Fashions as a seamstress.
The business has evolved over the years and Loraine is now the principal designer as well as
the co-owner. Loraine’s devotion to the inclusion of hand beading and luxurious fabrics while
creating exquisite gowns are her passion. Her designs are created with today’s sophisticated
and stylish woman in mind, one who has her own individual sense of style and love of fashion.
Before undertaking any couture project Loraine consults with the client to ensure that their
vision of the perfect gown for their special day will indeed become a reality. Loraine’s passion
and belief in what she does is readily reflected in the genuine personal service she provides to
her clients.
At Jean’s Fashions, Loraine and Jean know that choosing your wedding dress is one
of the most exciting and enjoyable parts of your wedding preparations, we are here
to help.
Policies and Procedures
Your order will be placed after we receive an order form from each of your bridesmaids as well as a
50% deposit.
Dresses are special cut for your wedding and therefore cannot be exchanged or returned. All sales
are final.
When ordering online the customer is responsible for their size selection. Our consultants are
available for recommendations; that recommendation is based on our size chart and the knowledge
of the dress style, however when you send us your measurements they are taken into precedence
when your dress is being cut. We highly suggest that in town bridesmaids come in for
measurements whenever possible, although our Bridesmaids' Size Selection Sheet is ideal for out-
of- town bridesmaids (please contact us and we will send you the appropriate size selection sheet
depending on the company you want to order your dresses from).
The bride is notified when her dresses are ready for fitting; she is responsible for notifying her
bridesmaids.
The balance payment is required when the dresses are fitted or when your dress arrives in our
store (whichever comes first) and before the garments are delivered. Please have all balances
cleared within two weeks of notification.
When ordering dresses from one of our suppliers, your dresses are made to the measurements on
the size chart which are closest to yours. Alterations are to be expected on dresses that are not
being custom-made at our store location. We will be happy to make an appointment for you with our
seamstress.
There may be additional charges for sizes over a 16, (except for dresses from Forever Yours sizes
1-30 no extra charge) extra length, and rushed orders. Extra fabric and trims are available for
purchase. Please inquire when placing your order.
Your order will typically take between 8 and 14 weeks when ordering from Sincerity, Forever Yours
and Bridal Originals. When ordering from Rebecca or most of our flower girl dresses orders usually
take 3-5 weeks. Ship dates are approximate and are not guaranteed; however, we have not missed
a wedding. When deliveries run close, we work overtime to have everything ready for your wedding.
We will do our best to have your dress order run as smoothly as possible and help solve any
concerns that may arise. If you want your dresses shipped later that 14 weeks please request a
delivery date approximately 3-4 weeks before you wedding.
Orders cannot be cancelled after the order has been placed. If fabrics have been ordered deposits
will not be refunded. Wedding accessories are not returnable for refund or exchange, so please
make your selections carefully.
